Today we talk about Woolrich, 191 years old this year, present since 1830 with the construction of the first woolen mill by John Rich.
It is America’s oldest manufacturer of outdoor clothing.
For 150 years since the War of the Succession, it has supplied blankets and uniforms to the Union Army.
More than just a story, right? Not to mention the classic parkas conceived and designed in the 70’s and still found in every store today.
This time Woolrich has tried to surpass itself with the Spring/Summer 2021 collection in collaboration with Highsnobiety by recruiting two new Ambassadors for the campaign, Brianna Noble and Kyle Ng.
It’s possible that some of you have never heard of them, but now we’ll clarify.
Let’s start with Kyle Ng, co-founder and creative director of Brain Dead, a brand founded in Los Angeles in 2014 (a tour of their website is a must for the uniqueness of their graphics, for lovers of the underground and skateboarding scenario).
They define themselves this way: ” Brain Dead is not a person, nor an idea. He is in the space between people”.
Kyle Ng has decided to be one of the many supporters of “Black Live Matter” through the creation of a charity campaign with the sale of a t-shirt collecting about 500 thousand dollars.
Brianna Noble instead you may have already seen her riding her horse, she is an urban cowgirl of Californian origin.
She was present in the big protest in Oakland with her stallion and appeared in major newspapers and news channels around the world with the sign “Black Lives Matter“.
She created Project Humble, an equine program dedicated to positively impacting youth from disenfranchised communities by using horses as a means of inspiration for a bright future.
Two brief explanations for the two Ambassadors to discover and understand the new campaign and the SS21 collection, already on Woolrich‘s website.
“Without Barriers” is a very strong name at first glance, in fact it wants to convey the overcoming of barriers without having limits, going beyond.
Woolrich says: “Whether it’s drawing inspiration from nature or fighting for change, Brianna and Kyle are the catalysts of a social and political revolution that will bring a brighter future for all. Their stories are peppered with positivity and see the overcoming of personal and social obstacles that reflect the truest spirit of human perseverance.”
It’s safe to say that Woolrich‘s philosophy of inclusivity and equality fully matches the thinking of the two Ambassadors, both of whom share a passion for acting for change.
It’s not as easy as it sounds to enlist two Ambassadors of this caliber, but when the brand’s thought comes straight to their hearts, they can’t help but embrace it and hold on to it.
On Youtube, on the Woolrich channel, two high quality commercials have been published where both Kyle Ng and Brianna Noble tell their stories briefly.
On Woolrich‘s website you can already find the new SS21 collection.
