The streetwear giant is no longer an independent brand
Supreme is no longer an independent brand, in fact by the end of the year the “Chanel of streetwear” will be acquired by the Vf Corporation for a sum of 2.1 billion dollars.
Vf Corporation, owner of brands such as Vans, Timberland and The North Face, has stated that it will also buy the shares of Supreme that belong to the investment funds Goode Partners, which had made a small acquisition in 2014, and Carlyle, who had bought them. 50 percent in 2017 for $ 500,000.
James Jebbia, founder of the brand in 1944, will still remain within the company, which gives us hope for a non-alteration of Supreme’s language and aesthetic message.
To date, Supreme’s success has been a combination of several factors: first of all its aesthetic language promoting a unique and genuine cultural movement, then undoubtedly its original and winning marketing strategies, one of which is the drop of products from the same collection spread over several weeks.
VF Corp expects Supreme to increase its revenue by at least $ 500 million by 2022, so we just have to wait and see what new things we have to offer!
