Masha Butorina talks about the relationship between man and the environment, often lacking in regard and caution.
Among the 200 short films in competition in the latest edition of the Milan Fashion Film Festival, “Fur” was the most acclaimed by the public for its great narrative ability as if it were a mirror on the relationship between humanity, as well as the fashion system, the world animal and its habitat.
“We live in an age of overconsumption, extolling material values as the only truth”. These words mark the goal of this short film: to reflect on how much fashion, with the passing of time, is not always aware of the role it occupies within society and not always, wonders how much the lack of an eco-sustainability.
A topic, which in recent times has certainly been addressed with more dedication and implemented by many companies, but which still suffers from a lack of humanity in some ways.
Masha Butorina wonders about this, decides to enhance the grotesque of her thoughts, to bring the viewer to reflection. For this reason, the director chooses a mythical character as the protagonist, half man, half animal. The character didn’t realize that he wears “someone else’s skin” and the more he wears it, the more his habits and animal traits to life.
