Fans will know that the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Finals. What better gift than a 16-karat ring?
It is not a simple luxury accessory, behind the ring donated to the team on the evening of December 22, there is much more. Every element that composes the ring, is not left to chance, presents a story behind.
The jewel was designed by the artist Jason of Beverly Hills, already known in the NBA environment for having designed five rings for several champions, including Kobe Bryant. And it is to the latter that the ring is dedicated.
The basket, as we know, lost its life during a helicopter accident, along with its daughter and seven other people, on 26 January, leaving an unbridgeable void in the heart of the family and thousands of fans. The role of designer of the jewel has therefore had an immense meaning. Kobe is present the many elements of the ring, and every detail is meticulously taken care of, despite the short time. The artist in fact declares:
“The funniest thing about this ring is how much story it can tell. This season has been different from all the others.”
First, to remember the 95 days passed in the bubble, the 17 amethysts (number of Lakers titles) that form the “L” weigh exactly 0.95 carats. Yellow diamonds are 0.52 carats, like the team’s Regular Season victories.
The phrase “Leave a Legacy” is engraved in gold, with the writing of LeBron. And the word “Unity“, to recall the struggles against racism carried out by James and companions, is about every jewel.
A Black Mamba snake around the number of the player to whom the ring is intended, in memory of Kobe. But this is not all: the ring opens like a casket, in fact the upper part of the ring is removable. Inside you can see the jersey numbers of retired Lakers players, with particular emphasis on the number 8 and 24, belonging to Bryant.
The 804 stones and the total weight of 16.45 make this ring more expensive than ever in the history of the NBA league. And we are sure that all that sparkle is visible to Kobe and the little Gianna Maria even from up there.
All over NBA here!
