Keep fightings, keep loving. As if they were a kind of mantra, Converse uses these words on the models of Chuck 70, revisited to celebrate February 14, Valentine’s Day. The day universally known to be that of lovers is told through the flagship model of the US brand. Time permitting, the company seems to be saying, couples will be able to walk knowing they can wear sneakers completely dedicated to them.
From the States they say that the proposals are available in low black (& red) and cream (& ocra), while for those who prefer the high model, in burgundy and octane. The upper remains unchanged, made of smooth black leather. For the occasion, the inner lining is covered in a red shade.
Bright colors, special illustrations and the desire to communicate an important message, that of union and beauty, make up a fun capsule, which does not distort the classic Converse style. Moreover, the current situation continues to describe situations of hatred much more than those of love. Racism, social inequality and unethical political classes rather than making people understand how, indeed, concepts such as fraternity and freedom are important, they make up a decidedly pessimistic picture of the present.
It is certainly not a shoe that changes things. Like all products, its only future is to be sold to satisfy a desire. However, if a bit of love was added to this, the world would perhaps look pleasing to the eye and beyond.
The collection is available on converse.com and selected stores.
