Dior is a prestigious luxury boutique founded in Paris in 1946. The founder Christian Dior and his friend and textile producer Marcel Boussac opened the first and historic boutique in Avenue Montaigne. Later many other boutiques have been opened in French capital and all over the world.
Until the origins, Dior creations shown and revisited the concept of female silhouette. For the first time, the shapes of women were shown after the Second World War and after a long period of austerity and Dior created romantic silk and chiffon dresses, very wispy and with thin waist, just like the famous silhouette Corelle.
In this way Dior renewed the image of the woman and influenced the concept of luxury fashion.
Many Hollywood stars or high aristocracy women worn Dior creations: Gina Lollobrigida, Evita Peron, la Duchessa di Windsor, Marguerite Carré e Raymonde Zehnacker and his muse Germaine “Mitza” Bricard.
After Christian Dior death, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano and the latest Maria Grazia Chiuri were elected as creative directors of the maison.
Each of them were essential for the prestigious fashion house: Yves Saint Laurent launched the Trapezio collection, including the famous Barbaresque dress, Marc Bohan created a famous line of embroided and stones decorated dresses for Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, la Principessa Soraya, Elizabeth Taylor, Empress Farah Pahlavi and Maria Callas; Gianfranco Ferré revisited the military look and launched the first female tailleur; with John Galliano the maison had an enormous success, due to the bags and fragrances lines. Since 2016 Maria Grazia Chiuri is the creative director and she wants to homage the boutique tradition, starting from the origins.
The historic Dior boutique dating back to 1946 can be found in Paris in Avnue Montaigne. Outside, it has a majestic and impressive aspect, while the interior design is very luxurious and classic, typical of the French nobility houses. The furniture is very elegant and of gray shades: the carpet floor, the velvet sofas, the velvet and feathered chairs, the iron furnishings – which in some case recall the animalier print used in past by Christian Dior.
In the living room the portrait of the designer can be found on a wall with relief decorations, positioned above a chimney and flanked by two showcases where some precious jewels are exposed.
Recently, other boutiques have been opened: they have a modern style but are always very elegant. These are dedicated to the baby line, the man line and a pop-up store.
