Dear readers, as we announced a few days ago, we are now very close to the start of the highly anticipated Tokyo Olympics. Olympics which this year, for the first time, will also see the participation of skateboarding teams. In the last article we illustrated the new uniforms designed by Nike SB in collaboration with Parra.
And when it comes to Nike, we cannot fail to mention the word sneaker. That’s why today we will show you the new shoe proposals made in collaboration with FTC, Quartersnacks, Gundam and Piet Parra. Specifically, these are new iterations of the Dunk model in the High and Low versions. An initiative that pays homage to Japanese culture in four different ways.
The first proposal concerns the Dunk Low model designed with Parra. The captivating colored graphics that dominate the white leather upper perfectly recalls the design of the uniforms. To complete the work of art are added details such as the black swoosh placed on the side and of course the Dutch artist’s signature positioned on the heel.
The second proposal refers to the Japanese toy culture and finds inspiration in the transformable robot: Unicorn Gundam. The result, in fact, of the collaboration between Nike and the well-known animated franchise Gundam, the Nike Dunk High is available in two different colors: “White / Amarillo” and “Thunder Blue / Metallic Gold”. Imagined as if it were a robotic toy, the sneaker features graphic details in relief such as the swoosh in interchangeable velcro.
Following is the collaboration between Nike and FTC, San Francisco skate shop, which for the occasion has created a new iteration of the Nike Dunk Low inspired by Sentō, traditional Japanese public toilets famous for their design. Design that is echoed on the silhouette of the shoe through a crystal blue suede upper to which overlapping white patterns with a “tiled” effect are added. A fresh and light aesthetic enlivened by the yellow sponge lining and the silver side swoosh.
The latest proposal sees the collaboration of Quartersnacks, a skate store in New York, which for the Nike Dunk Low was based on the beloved Little Debbie’s Zebra Cakes snacks, snacks covered with icing and finished with a zebra pattern. Motif that was then re-proposed on the leather upper accompanied by black inserts and the inevitable swoosh. Also present is the Quartersnacks logo, positioned on the heel.
Don’t miss this fantastic collaborations that will be coming out soon on the Nike SB website.
