Everyone knows The North Face and yet not everyone knows The North Face Purple Label. For those who are not a great connoisseur of more niche streetwear, this is a division created by the brand with the support of Eiichiro Homma, founder of nanamica. The label is also part of Goldwin, the Japanese conglomerate that owns and manages the licenses of numerous apparel brands separately from their Western counterparts.
Although the line is intended exclusively for the Japanese market, in recent times it has been receiving positive feedback all over the world, especially in Europe, to the point of attracting the attention of a giant like Palace. Although the famous London brand has already started this 2021 with a bang, juggling a thousand different collaborations, it certainly did not miss the opportunity to launch an unprecedented collection, full of hype.
Combining versatility, practicality and distinctive aesthetics, what comes out is a capsule consisting of eleven items, which includes outerwear, t-shirts, trousers and accessories. On each piece there is double branding, as well as dominant is the camouflage pattern that mixes with shades of purple, taken from the TNFPL logo, without however distorting the unmistakable style of the Japanese sub-label based on minimalism.
Another prominent element that resonates most is the choice of materials that sometimes sees accents in ripstop, denim and details inspired by the world of the mountains such as the long sleeve of the t-shirts that offer COOLMAX, a breathable material so much used by nanamics. A collection that seems to link skate and gorpcore. To the great chagrin of international fans, the collection will be available only in Japan starting from March 27 on THE NORTH FACE STANDARD, in the Palace store in Tokyo, in the Japanese nanamica store and online.
