After being already accussed of alleged sexual violence and gender discrimination, this time Nike was sued by the former senior data analysis director, Amer Inam, for allegedly racial discrimination.
Inam, an Indian immigrant, accuses the footwear giant of having promoted a less experienced white employee in his place. Inma, explains that his work, despite being approved for the promotion, was not only not promoted, but was even paid less than that of his white collaborator.
Inam sued for $ 516.000 USD, which adds to another $ 350.000 USD for damages and non-economic expenses. He cites racial discrimination as a source of physical and mental disorders.
Dana Sullivan of Buchanan Angeli Altschul & Sullivan LLP, the company that represents Inam, says: “it is tremendously discouraging that a company that supports itself as a supporter of people of color fails so miserably in facing racial discrimination internally. it was so much scrutiny during Nike’s last year of treating women, but there is an equally distressing story to tell about her treatment of black employees “.
Stay tuned for further developments.
