THE BLACK VENUS IS ONE OF THE PROTAGONISTS OF THE ADV OF THE ICONIC ENGLISH BRAND
Naomi Campbell testimonial for Vivienne Westwood for next spring. And no wonder. The English brand founded by Westwood in the seventies, after the opening of the first Let it Rock store in 1971 at 430 King’s Road in London, has always been involved in fashion campaigns that invite to action. And Campell is as fashionable as an activist. And not only with regard to climate change, but also with respect to gender and color issues, acting in the first person when on the catwalk only white models parade.
But even for one of the queens of the catwalks, everything is not always perfect. In fact, it took her years to participate in a campaign for the British fashion house. “I think things in life happen when they have to happen. It took me 33 years of career to do a Westwood campaign and I’m very happy to do it in my 49th year of life. If it’s destiny, things happen.” Tells Naomi.
Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler keep her company. The trio, along with other models, poses in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, under the iconic Juergen Teller‘s camera. The mood unfolds in a white space illuminated by fluorescent lights and in the streets of a brand new ville. “When I design clothes, I imagine a story and when someone photographs me wearing those clothes I always have in mind what they tell. I am reading Mythology and for this campaign it is as if we were on the way to paradise and we are turning from fish to birds … “. Tells about the campaign Dame Westwood.
