Do you remember Tamagotchi? For the younger generation, or for those who simply don’t remember, it was a Japanese portable video game very popular between the end of the 90s and early 21st century, of which were sold more than 82 million models.
Created by Akihiro Yokoi and Aki Maita and released by Bandai on 23rd November 1996 in Japan and on the 1st May 1997 in the rest of the world, the Tamagochi consists of an egg-shaped miniature console with a small screen and a three-key interface. The game is a life simulator whose purpose is to take care of a small pet, giving him everything necessary to live and the right education.
On 18th March 2022, it has reappeared around the neck of one of the most famous rappers in the world: ASAP Rocky. The artist has worn a colorful necklace with a Tamagotchi as a pendant during his performance at the festival Lollapalooza held in Argentina.
The jewel was made by a designer of whom we know very little beyond her Instagram account Monigotchi. Her creations are available online on the Etsy e-commerce website at prices ranging from 28€ to 75€.

Considering the influence that ASAP Rocky, along with his famous partner and artist Rihanna, has on the world of fashion, there is the possibility that the colorful necklaces by Monigotchi will become a new trend, replacing the diamond-studded ones that most rappers have worn so far.
What about you? Would you wear it?
