Moncler with its multi-brand collaborative project Genius is like saying … genius!
This time the iconic Italian manufacturer of ski wear exploited the creative director of Maison Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, for a collection of padded jackets with a single fil rouge, the contrast. Sacred and profane, mysticism and futurism, reality and fantasy.
Piccioli deploys in the spaces of The House of Genius in Soho, in New York, his graphic models, both mystical and futuristic. Its medieval Madonnas, seen through slow temporal spaces, merge with the idea of essence, which for Pierpaolo Piccioli is the very definition of purity. The designer has stripped the classic duvet to the essential.
The silhouettes also show off his high fashion background in this collection of hoods and hooded skirts characterized by couture-style zippers, complete with long gloves also padded for total body coverage. The gigantic “A-line” shapes might seem to come from an alien world, but they are, in essence, pure Moncler. The padding is made with basic nylon and goose down (which refers to the typical simplicity of Moncler) and the items arrive in a palette of ivory, black, amethyst, imperial yellow, bright green, orange, red and cherry red, with the intention of mixing rather than combining.
Piccioli describes the collaboration as the “maximum expression of my taste and a very personal effort”, and with this collection has innovated a classic luxury brand to create one of the most impressive (and slightly intimidating) silhouettes of the season . Take a look at the collection in the gallery below.
MONCLER x PIERPAOLO PICCIOLI is already available for sale in Moncler boutiques and in the brand’s online store.
