The Milanese men’s fashion “week”, or rather the “week-end” of Milano Moda Uomo, kicks off this Friday evening.
Wedged between the last day of Pitti Uomo and the first of Paris session, which instead dominates with its strong power of attraction, it seems that there is no way to revive this calendar in fact limited to just three days.
A long weekend from Friday 11 January to Monday 14, Milano Moda Uomo has suffered in particular from the choice of repositioning by fashion houses both towards the women’s calendar and towards more prestigious destinations.
Escape from Alcatraz
Some examples, in particular, illustrate this drift.
Jil Sander, whose men’s collection has been showing in Milan for years, has simply chosen to follow the crowd and opt for the Parisian podiums.
Another case is that of Moschino, who after having paraded in June in Los Angeles, this time he decided to break every scheme by organizing a show in Rome on Tuesday, January 8, at the opening of Pitti Uomo …
Finally, the umpteenth streetwear label such as Palm Angels, whose creative director stated in an interview that in Esquire that “Milan today has a good energy, is waking up”, after having walked in Milan for four seasons, this time he decided to integrate the New York women’s calendar.
In the category we can not forget King Armani, who after leaving the June session to show with the woman in September during a spectacular show at Milan Linate airport, has reset the man Emporio Armani to the calendar, but replacing the main line Giorgio Armani, who skips the turn of January to return to February in a parade mixed with the woman.
Sometimes they come back
For every brand that flees there is someone who instead returns.
Not that we can equate the names of those who go with those who return, but always better than nothing.
John Richmond, apparently in recovery, will make his return.
The English designer will return on Sunday 13 January on the Milan podium, which he left in September 2015 after 17 years of uninterrupted parades in Italy.
A worthy “Back home Lassie” is instead the case of Brioni who will make his return home after several seasons presented in Paris.
The program
In any case, among all this general anarchy and nonsense of the fashion system, the first to cut the red ribbon of this event will be Ermenegildo Zegna that alone on the calendar in the evening of Friday 11 will unveil his collection at the Central Station.
Then, in Via Tortona, will take place the opening party of Milano Moda Uomo “Elevator to the Future”, organized by the Italian National Chamber of Fashion in collaboration with Confartigianato Imprese
Thanks to the support of CNMI and CNMI Fashion Trust, also appear on the calendar, M1992, an Italian brand designed by Dorian Gray, and Miaoran.
There will be no lack of the Made in Italy debut. We will have the pleasure to know, thanks to the support of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, two new Italian brands such as Danilo Paura, founded in 2015 by the homonymous designer, and Barbanera, brand born in 2011 by Alessandro Pagliacci together with the brothers Sergio and Sebastiano Guardì.
Milano Moda Uomo will conclude with the Gucci event “Motus presents MDLSX with Silvia Calderoni”, directed by Daniela Nicolò and Enrico Casagrande.
