Louis Vuitton Manufactures, published by Assouline: it is a book that tells about ateliers and artisans, opens a door to their work, revealing the world behind the success of the Maison. A collection of 350 exclusive photos of places, buildings, decisive moments, unforgettable items and their creation that shows us how Louis Vuitton has become the luxury brand we know today.
Louis Vuitton’s ateliers span the length and breadth of France and beyond, from Geneva (Switzerland), to Fiesso d’Artico (Italy) to Texas (USA). Sites of historical interest or outstanding natural beauty often have a Louis Vuitton workshop nearby: in Normandy, the sea-side fort of Mont Saint Michel can be seen from Ducey’s atelier, and in Beaulieu-sur-Layon, the flooded structure of light, a low environmental impact is set as its goal.
The book will be available in a classic edition, in English or French, for 95 euros. The Chinese, Korean and Japanese versions will go on sale from April. Then there will be a collector’s edition, limited to 500 numbered copies, enclosed in a poplar wood case (a tribute to Vuitton’s historic trunks) for 1,900 euros. This will be available exclusively in French in Louis Vuitton stores and on the brand’s e-commerce site.
