Juergen Teller photographed JW Anderson’s new collection, consisting of 37 looks.
The new pre-collection surprisingly has the designer’s intention to make the gap between menswear and womenswear, with flowing, asymmetrical lines, patchwork prints and hipster logos. Jonathan Anderson, admiring Teller’s shots revealed his ‘aesthetic’ goal: “To go back to what JW Anderson was at the beginning. A primitive game with materials, looking at new ideas in terms of genre and manufacturing”.
The lookbook was shown like if it were a moodboard with previews of the show, and the shots, which also see the British actress and singer Sophie Okonedo as a model, are overwhelmed by a strong spontaneity and irony. A result obtained thanks to Juergen Teller’s natural ease behind the lens, which the German photographer has been able to experiment over the years by saying no to make-up, flash and meticulous work in post-production.
