We interviewed Valentina Giammarco, the founder of a beautiful Made in Italy brand of couture headbands, The Beatriz.
Hi Valentina, it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to have a chat with you. Can you tell us something about yourself, how did your career start? How did you come to found The Beatriz?
My pleasure and thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I started as an entrepreneur in the family business but I have always had the desire to give space to my passions by combining imagination and craftsmanship rigor. So in 2019 I finally gave life to my dream by creating The Beatriz, a brand that has made the handmade accessory a particularity, ready to accompany those who choose it both on special occasions and in everyday life.
What are the characteristics of your products?
The headbands are hand-made with particular care for the fabrics used. The iconic models of my brand are Miraggio Fuggevole and Vertigine, models that define style and emphasize femininity. They are accessories to wear not only for events or ceremonies but also in everyday life.
Where does the inspiration for your collections come from? What is the theme of the fw 2020?
Sophisticated allure and bon ton style are the guiding thread of my collections and therefore also of the new winter. The goal is to create an elegant and fascinating accessory that can define the look of an elegant, refined and contemporary woman.
What are the classic The Beatriz models that every woman should have in the wardrobe?
A two-tone velvet headband and a tricot fabric model for a casual look.
What materials are used to produce couture headbands?
The headbands are made using a flexible but non-deformable core covered with different fabrics while the bows can be in velvet, leather or crinoline. This hair ornament is very light and easy to wear.
It is good to see that today there are products that through a modern design recall the elegance of the past. What are the icons or historical periods of fashion that influenced your style?
I was inspired by the lightness of the style of the 1920s, by the atmosphere of Il Grande Gatsby.
What is The Beatriz’s target audience?
Actually, there is no specific target to which I refer. The dynamic and changeable forms and the
combination of fabrics and colors, make my headbands suitable for different styles, ages and personalities.
What are your goals for the future?
I would certainly like to expand the collection with other accessories but it is a big goal … For now, let’s see the future step by step.
What would you recommend to a young accessory designer?
To pursue his dreams without being too conditioned by the market and the need to assert itself at all costs.
Where can we buy your creations?
In the online shop available on Instagram and on the website www.thebeatriz.com.
