Born in the summer of 2008 in Ibiza by Alessandro Forte and Stefano Ottone, GLASSING is a constantly growing Made in Italy eyewear brand.
Inspired by the beauty and creativity of the island, the first models created by the founders were snapped up to the point of bringing forward a real brand that is now sold in over 1500 stores around the world including La Rinascente in Milan, the Galleries Lafayette in Beijing and City Walk in Dubai.
We had the opportunity to have a chat with Stefano Ottone, co-founder of the brand.
“Hi Stefano, thanks for accepting our invitation. Would you like to briefly introduce yourself and your brand? How did you meet? Did you already work together before GLASSING?”
“Alessandro and I have been friends since before founding Glassing, we have the same passions in common, after our first seasons in Ibiza we decided to open our first shop in one of the most characteristic streets of the port, we sold vintage glasses and the first GLASSING model. called Ibiza 08, an Aviator shape in fluo colors, sold through vending machines (our utility patent). Then the adventure continued in Italy and now we are what we are a consolidated brand with more than 10 years of activity. “
“What are the distinctive elements of your product?”
“Research on modeling and color trends, always constantly updated, the dynamic brand but with a very specific identity.”
“How would you define your style and who are the icons that inspire you?”
“The inspiration is 360 degrees from the world of architecture to that of art. Our style can be defined as URBAN.”
“What is the GLASSING model that cannot be missing in the wardrobe?”
“Absolutely our iconic model, our and only asymmetrical GP1 total black goggle often worn by Rihanna.”
“What have been the most satisfying moments of your career?”
“The opening of our first store in Dubai.”
“How do you approach influencers? Do you often work with them?”
“Thanks to the locations of our flag ship stores we have many influencer and VIP clients and they love the Glassing brand.”
“Have you ever thought about collaborating with other brands?”
“Co-branding is planned for 2121, we are already working on it.”
“Where are you based?”
“In an old nightclub, used as a warehouse and office, a very stimulating location.”
“What are your future projects?”
“Confirm us collection after collection.”
“What would you recommend to young entrepreneurs in the fashion world?”
“To believe in what you do, even sometimes making mistakes, but the road is long and you must always have creative stimuli to go forward, also learning to say no.”
