Lascivious, sexy and never predictable. This is the feeling that leaves the collection signed by Absidem presented at White Show during Milan Fashion Week. The soul of this new brand is Francesca Castiglioni -together with her partner Gaia Ramona- that after years lived between studies in painting, visual arts and collecting vintage fashion has decided to kick off her personal project by making leather luxury accessories made in Italy.
Describe Absidem with five adjectives:
Elegant, dominant, avant-garde, genderbender and fashion.
From the art of bondage to the creation of fashion accessories, which were the steps and the reasons that you have brought to the creation of Absidem?
During a period of transition and change, I wondered who really I was, where I came from, what I was feeling and what could really be in my comfort zone. I know the world of art and fashion, and at the same time I am always looking for an aesthetic in everything that surrounds me. I decided to combine these two features to create something personal. The project has now been married by Gaia Ramona, with whom I have experienced many important moments. Her contribution and the intention of working as a team to Absidem make the project successful.
What is the most versatile accessory in your collection?
The most versatile accessory is the corset. It has a strong character and at the same time rigorous. Improves any kind of outfit, it highlights silhouette’s quality and making it more “beautiful”. Impeccable if worn over a white shirt or a turtleneck under-jacket.
You have presented the latest collection at White Show. What was visitors feedback?
In ancient Italy we have a mixed feedback. Absidem is created to be considered by those who really have an idea of aesthetics above average. Most visitors, especially those from abroad, have appreciated. The choice of this aesthetic is strong, and it’s personal representative. On balance, we have received excellent feedback, probably because it is difficult to remain indifferent to Absidem.
How is positioned Absidem on the market?
Absidem fits into the luxury segment.
Future projects?
We have a hectic schedule in 2016. I can say that the aesthetics for next collection will remain strong but elegant; each piece will represent Absidem exclusively.
