Today our virtual showroom, Wait Order welcomes a new interesting brands. When the mix is made in Italy, Italian design and avant-garde usually the cocktail is explosive. And in fact in this case it is not. The brand already has its stronghold in Ibiza this summer and those windows is ready to contaminate the trend setters who happen to island during the holidays. Today the best stores in the world can buy the autumn-winter 2015 to Wait Order. To celebrate the arrival of the brand on our platform we decided to interview his team. In these photos Emanuele Morelli and Francesco Capocci, directors of the brand on the role models. At the bottom you will find many photos of the look book.
Hello guys. Let’s start from the beginning. How did Droll started?
Droll was founded in 2012 as an artistic collaboration between Francesco Capocci and Daniele Aureli with the help of Antonio Menchise owner of Caracas Store in Terni.
Over the years, the partnership has become stronger and stronger until you get to the first production of the capsules and the launch of our first two collections.
Who is behind the project Droll?
The direction of the brand is entrusted to Emanuele Morelli and Francesco Capocci.
As for the production and distribution deal with it Carlo Teofoli, Francesco Bombini and Gianluca Magnani also owners of The Street Ibiza
How would you define your brand?
Honestly we have never given a definition to the brand if not that of the same name Droll but today, thinking about it, I will define as an edgy brand with a strong personality and a constant search for new creative and evolutionary.
I know that the product is entirely Italian. How important is this in what you do and what you think will weigh on the choice of stores?
For us, Made in Italy or rather “made in Italy” is synonymous with quality and good workmanship, this is what we are seeking in our collections and we want to convey to all our customers.
Obviously this affects a lot in the selection of shops, and so far I have to say that those who have chosen Droll did it because the brand has recognized a specific quality and has focused on this aspect.
Is your brand right now is distributed only in Italy or also abroad?
For now, the brand is distributed mainly in Italy but fortunately we have our shop in Ibiza that, given the influx of tourists, unable to make the brand known even outside of our nation.
The goal that we set, however, is to “attack” the foreign market since work in Italy is always a bit ‘difficult, both for payments and distribution but, above all, for the classism that today is forming by pseudo-established and emerging brands at the expense of those who want to bring out something new.
How the project has evolved over the years?
Our project was born in 2012 and in 2014 we had a change of course by entering Emanuele Morelli, first as a company manager until you get to support Francesco Capocci in the artistic direction of the brand, also, the change has led us to lean on new producers.
How the inspiration for each collection born?
Our inspirations come mainly from the constant search for new ideas, a manic search for images that lead us to create eye-catching graphics and full of meanings to read.
But, above all, we are very influenced by the events that happen around us and even art, more than once, gave us inspiration for our collections.
Tell us more about the new collection for fw 15-16 2015 which is now available on www.waitorder.com?
Our collection is called AW1516 WAFA that stands for We Are Fucking Angry a real outcry in everything that happens every day in every part of the world and all those people every day rebel against the powers that be.
They do it in the streets, we try to do in this field.
A decidedly dark, where the protagonists are cuts and fabrics. It’s possible that there will be an evolution towards color?
The move towards the color is an almost compulsory step and as early as next collection VAN7A SS’16 we will have many more colors and fabrics that will sit alongside the black in our lives will always be the leader.
Yours is a men’s collection, or at least presented like this. We will also see the woman in the future?
The woman is always a dream in our drawer we think about often and it is hoped that one day may come true, but the female line Droll as the creation of accessories are two of those goals we have set.
Can you tell us the name of a designer who is for you a reference point?
A designer who definitely for us and for many others it is a reference point is Yohji Yamamoto and more precisely the line Y-3.
If you had to choose a group or singer as a background to your next catwalk, something that represents you, what would you choose?
Coming from very different musical tastes as background music in a catwalk we will definitely use the healthy and restorative electronic music, surely some trace of Kangding Ray and more precisely Blank Empire .
How the project will evolve?
We are always evolving and abuzz with new ideas and projects, in addition to the female line and accessories, we are also aiming to participate in fairs for us to know more, so who knows, maybe we’ll see you at New Year in Paris or Milan.
