“Eureka!”. Carlo Perissinotto, Venetian designer, must have exclaimed this ancient word when he experienced the moment that led him to found his eye-wear brand Moody. The next moment, he says with a tinge of emotion, is one in which he discovered the XVII century sketches inside a farthing of his great-grandfather received as a legacy from a noble. From that, hard work, in collaboration with his designer friend in Los Angeles, and some obstacles it needs to grow, they took him in the space of a year to present his creations in Venice during the 73rd Film Festival.
Perissinotto is a young guy, enthusiastic and a perfectionist. << I am also moody, that's why I named my brand Moody >>. That’s how our meeting was opened at the charming and elegant location of the Venice Movie Stars Lounge.
Glasses, both normal and sunglasses and predominantly genderless, are aesthetically the right melange of antique, contemporary and futuristic. Among them, in addition to the Penny that is the icon, the Barbell model stands out because it is characterized by a particular brushed copper color effect. In fact each model Moody wants to be the lens through which the wearer can understand the creative and temporal vision of Carlo Perissinotto.
<< When I founded Moody I made some mistakes, even on a personal stage. But this has also allowed me to enrich myself at the level of meetings and, above all, of skills >>. Humility and sincerity, then. << I do a lot of research, and I listen to a lot of the artisans in the area of Cadore that make each model. Following the whole process, from creation of glasses in my mind to the physical, concrete in the laboratory, I have acquired special skills especially at the technical level >>. And this is noticeable in materials and workmanship. << The Moody glasses will certainly stand out visually but another goal was to make them portable and lightweight. For this reason the metal is their main component. In addition, for the new collection of eyeglasses we decided to realize all titanium models >>.
Perissinotto has no muses, icons referenced. In this way of inspiration rather learn from brands that admires, from the people he meets, from the voices of Italian hand craftsmanship. Moody is an independent brand with excellent quality. In addition to the technical aspect there is also the detail-obsessive part that only someone who loves and believes in his project can applied, such as the choice to submit each pair of glasses to the blasting process before electroplating to give extra grip for different colors.
A niche product for customers who want to wear something that differentiates them from others but at the same time, does not make them strangers to the contemporary. And it is on this that Carlo Perissinotto is laying the groundwork for future models, combining different techniques, experimenting, without stopping.
