The BIG AND FLORENCE SHOWROOM bets strong on a timeless garment, a symbol of royalty and resistance: the HUSKY Jacket .
The Florentine showroom very dear to Wait Fashion led by the spouses Gianmaria Brini and Cristiana Andreoli, born a few months ago from the union of the respective Brini Showroom and Andreoli Showroom, for this season has focused the spotlight on a garment that hardly goes out of fashion, despite its longevity.
The origins
The Husky Jacket dates back to 1960, the year in which the American aviator Steve Gulyas, following his leave from the US Air Force, decides to move to England, precisely to Tostock, together with his wife Edna to devote himself to his greatest passions: the horseback riding and hunting.
It is from these that the need arises in him to create a functional jacket that can protect him from the harsh English climate. From here we have the quilted jacket covered in nylon, with light padding, which takes its name from the faithful companion of Colonel Gulyas, his Husky dog.
The Gulyas spouses then begin to pack the first jackets of Husky Ltd in Tostock, proposing them in the olive green and navy blue variants.
What really fostered the growth of the brand and the evolution of the quilted jacket was the English royal family. In fact, Queen Elizabeth II loved to wear a quilted jacket during her country outings in the county of Norfolk.
From the 70s onwards, the Husky Jacket becomes a real status symbol that reaches its peak in the decade of the 80s, a period in which the Sloan Ranger phenomenon was born. In England, the stereotype of the young girl of wealthy class who responds to a precise dress code which includes the iconic quilted nylon jacket is established.
From that moment the quilted jacket became an established and undisputed garment, suitable for both a female and male audience.
The Husky Jacket
The hip-length jacket appears very light thanks to its nylon lining and layered and compressed polyester padding. The external seams are clearly visible, so as to form a lozenge design also called rhombus or diamonds, typical of quilting.
The jacket has two side pockets, also quilted, 5 snap buttons and a shirt collar lined in striped velvet.
This garment fits perfectly into the field of sportswear given its versatility and functionality in Outdoor.
Returning to the unmistakable and original Husky Jacket, today it is present in different versions and colors.
Starting from the initial model, longer versions have been created including the Charlotte model for women, or sleeveless versions that can make hunting or sports in general easier, including the Philip model.
The color palette has also been considerably expanded: starting from the olive and navy blue variants to arrive at a total of seventeen different shades ranging from brown, to red and yellow.
A potencial Best Seller?
We at Wait Fashion are convinced that we are facing a potential ‘phenomenon‘. All the elements lead in this direction: the trend, an iconic model developed in a few models but with excellent color variations and therefore absolutely recognizable, a distribution that promises to be extremely well cared for, and finally, an absolutely interesting quality-price ratio.
This is the coat of English origin on which BIG AND FLORENCE SHOWROOM focuses for the fall/winter 2021-22 season, choosing quality, style and versatility to face the cold season, whether in the countryside or in the city, and us too of Wait we are ready to bet on its success.
You can buy the Husky Jacket in the Florence stores, in Piazza d’Azeglio or online through their official website.
