The new collection of Guess bags is reminiscent of something familiar, and is immediately controversial.
In these days, the images of the new collection of Guess bags have been published, which have brought with them a great debate.
Main theme? Plagiarism. A burning issue in the fashion world and certainly not new for the brand, which found itself in similar circumstances more than ten years ago, when Gucci filed complaints for trademark infringement, counterfeiting and unfair competition.
Now, on the web, the images of the lookbook of the brand founded by the Marciano brothers have been compared not only with those of Gucci, but also with those of Prada, Miu Miu, Chanel and Dior models.

But the resemblance difficult to deny is that with the Telfar shopping bag, the Bushwick Birkin. The compact aesthetic, in monochromatic eco-leather, the shoulder strap and above all the embossed logo positioned in the center: all refer to the revelation it-bag of 2020.
What angers the public the most is the appropriation of the work of a queer black designer who, since 2005, has managed to make his brand a cult: everyone has a Telfar because it is synonymous with quality and democratization of fashion, is a status symbol with cultural support that cannot be duplicated.
After the accusations via social media, Guess withdrew the offending item from the market, declaring:
“Guess does not want to create obstacles to the success of Telfar Global and for this reason has decided to stop the sale of the G-Logo Totes.”
Will it withdraw the other designs from the market as well?
