Today, November 15, 2021, the collection created by Gucci in collaboration with Balenciaga will arrive in 74 pop-up stores around the world.
The title of the collection is in fact “The hacker project” because Alessandro Michele, Gucci creative director, created the garments of the collection “stealing” some traits of the Balenciaga brand.
The same was done by Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga creative director, with typical Gucci codes. In the latest campaign shot by Balenciaga (led by Ikeuchi Hiroto) we find accessories in full Gucci style such as the monogram tote bag with green and red lines, which instead of the Gs has Balenciaga B’s.
The collection
Returning to the “The hacker project” collection, we see how Alessandra Michele and Demna Gvasalia have created a perfect mix between the two historical brands.
Let’s start with a silver laminate blazer covered with the name of the two brands in Balenciaga font, to arrive at a brown balzer with an all-over Gucci monogram, on which the Balenciaga logo is printed in the same way in white.
The same happens on bags: Gucci’s Jackie, GG marmont and Gucci Dionysus are invaded by the Spanish logo and vice versa Balenciaga’s Neo Classic.
The motifs we see on the bags, the common denominator of the entire collection, are mainly three: the brown Gucci monogram fabric, black or white leather and a very colorful floral print.
All in the name of logomania.
Shoes are also part of the collection; the sporty ones refer to Balenciaga while the decolleté to Gucci.
Impossible not to talk about it!
By Balenciaga we find the Triple S in male and female versions, covered with a Gucci or floral motif. The latter also cover the very high Gucci Knife décolleté and boots!
The collection that we could define as a really successful crossover is available from today on the Gucci and Balenciaga online stores, and in 74 stores around the globe.
