From Sicily to conquer Milan. Margarita Philosophica was certainly one of the most interesting brands that participated at White during Milan Fashion Week. The brand was born in 2015 in Agrigento, from the creativity of a fashion designer, Luisa Luparello, and a graphic designer and illustrator, Ivan De Lorenzo. Margarita Philosophica is a trademark completely made in Italy, characterized by the careful choice of fabrics, from the meticulous attention to the use of components and materials used in sweatshirts and t-shirts processes that are set to become a must-have in the wardrobe of both male and female.
Luisa, Ivan, what prompted you to found Margarita Philosophica?
Luisa: “We have found ourselves in Agrigento, each with a different back ground. So we decided to merge our skills, and to undertake this trip”.
Ivan: “This proposal from Luisa seemed at once interesting and even fun. It took us up here, at White, and even more hopefully take us more further”.
What are the reasons that led you to the decision to have a made in Italy chain?
Luisa: “If you want a quality product is the only choice. But we decided to produce in our country even for an ethical reason: it is an added value to the product working with companies that still believe in Italy in spite of the crisis, which still persists”.
The brand name is inspired by the first illustrated encyclopedia of history, how this aspect is visible in your sweats and t-shirts?
Ivan: “People have always used the drawing as a means of communication to pass on the knowledge to posterity. Both were aware of this first illustrated encyclopedia, and it felt right away automatically associate it to our project. This led to the brand Margarita Philosophica that, through drawings, wants to tell the world related stories of nature “.
Which customers are turning your sweaters?
Luisa: “On the surface our sweatshirts and t-shirts are aimed at a younger audience, but in reality it is not just for them. Our target is broader. The elements that allow us to reach a less restricted clientele are the materials and the study creative that goes to make up the design. Both in White that in Paris, in fact, the buyers we met were diverse: both urban and classic”.
What are your future plans?
Ivan: “We are currently developing the new collection. We want to tell our world even more fun and suited to the purpose”.
Luisa: “From the point of view of style, product, the aim is to achieve a total look. Already from next season it will be added new elements. What will not change is the basic idea with which we started: to build unisex products. we like the idea that women and men can exchange clothes, but not only that, we want this concept proves that even can be done at the social level “.
