A promise lasts forever. And it is in this timelessness that Valentino classifies his creations, carrying on his promise, that of always knowing how to read society by simply dressing it in red. A ” forever ” which, despite changing times, desires and ambitions, remains imprinted in the collective imagination and which is now shown in an exhibition itinerary inaugurated in Doha, in the spaces of M7, by the name of Forever Valentino.
A static show, a memory in the memory of the legacy and history of the maison that showcases 200 creations signed by the founder, extending more and more an already extended time line. But it is precisely in the words of the current creative director PierPaolo Piccioli to relive the union between history and Valentino: “ we have seen an empire change, continue, always taking care of time and without ever losing the desire to establish itself, and for this Valentino he does not belong to history, he himself creates it ”, words that explain the secret of years of protagonism.
In 1959, the year of the brand’s birth, we didn’t know what tomorrow would be like, but it was created with the determination to want to write that future, and not just to participate in it. Far from being a retrospective, Forever Valentino keeps alive the desire for the future that looks to the past as a beginning and not as an arrival.
A tribute to the work of a brand that has always stood out for its maximalism and artistic collaboration. In ten rooms, the curators Massimiliano Gioni and Alexander Fury summarize a research that lasted months, contaminating the iconic red imagery with the lit tins of the latest collections, in a possible conversation between Mr. Valentino and PierPaolo Poccioli, respectively before and after of the maison, reinterpreted in two codes which, although different, are the continuation of the other.
Thus, between satin fabrics and fluid shapes, Valentino is narrated as never done before, opening the doors to memory, in a captivating storytelling.
