Heritage Auctions is selling a pair of Air Jordan 1 worn by Michael Jordan in 1986.
What makes these sneakers special is not only the fact that they were worn by the god of basketball and that they are signed by him, but also the fact that they have been slightly modified from the standard model. Jordan wore the shoes on 1st April 1986, at the MECCA Arena in Milwaukee, during a match when he was still suffering due to the injury from the previous October. To allow him to play avoiding too many repercussions on the healing foot, the standard soles have been replaced with softer and wider ones. In addition, the right shoe presents a factory defect since it has an irregular number of eyelets.
It is estimated that the shoe will be sold on auction for over $1 million.
