Back on the rise, the historic sports brand Fila adds another name to its long list of successful collaborations. This time it’s Weekday, a Swedish fashion brand famous for denim garments as well as for the fresh and young style, influenced by street culture.
After a period spent with a low-profile, the iconic name of Italian sportswear has been taking advantage of the rediscovered interest in sportswear. Led by one of the most striking trends of recent seasons, the athleisure, Fila has scored successful high-profile collaborations. Among them, we mention those with: Gosha Rubchinskiy, A Bathing Ape, up to luxury brand Fendi, till now with the more accessible Weekday.
Fila x Weekday: The collection
The SS 2018 capsule includes 20 exclusive pieces, for men and women, that combine the sporty, functional and contemporary soul of the historic Italian brand with Scandinavian minimalism. The collection includes sweatshirts, T-Shirts, joggers and shorts, but also leggings, tops, windbreakers and sock shoes. At the center of attention there are performing materials, functional cuts and classic elements of sportswear such as raw cord pullers, zippers and bands with reflective logo. Performance characteristics are another big plus for the pieces, which include wind resistance, quick drying comfort, water repellency, breathability, stretch and support.
Flexibility and performance for those who play sport, but also comfort and attractive appearance for those who simply want to wear these garments in the city. All you need to do is combine them with what’s already in the everyday wardrobe, such as denim, for example, and a sporty total-look instantly transforms into a daytime, comfortable and casual outfit. In addition to style, the color palette also allows to easily combine the pieces together. The main colors are light gray, pure white and rose with a vintage look, up to electric blue and of course black.
The combination of sporty and casual, of Fila and Weekday respectively, works so well that every single garment is marked “Strenght in Unity” to emphasize the lucky partnership. Cherry on the cake? Affordable prices. From € 35, for a T-shirt or a pair of shorts, up to € 90 for shoes or a windbreaker. The items can be purchased online on weekday.com
