“We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep.”
– W. Shakespeare, The Tempest, act IV, scene I
The immortal verses of the poet of love par excellence have inspired this editorial video that mixes and merges two opposing subjects: dream and reality.
The result is a sublime “Meeting” between what we are in reality and what, or better who, we would like to be in the dream.
But, in an era in which, either because of too many commitments or because of too many distractions that technology offers us, we often don’t even have time to simply dream.
Nevertheless, the dream is always there waiting for us, at any time of the day. Why not, maybe even in the office, where the work routine can push our head to go elsewhere.
Just simply close your eyes for a second and with a simple jump, our soul “elevates” itself and we find ourselves in a world where everything is allowed, where ethics does not exist, where we can finally be ourselves.
It can be an opportunity to break the rules or simply enjoy a love and create a sharing experience that in reality would not be possible.
Since the earliest times, the dream has always been an element to say the least fascinating for the human being, so much so as to become an object of study as for example for Freud according to which the dreams are practically unconscious desires, often unacceptable to the ego of the dreamy subject.
Nevertheless, there are those who listened to their dream, did not judge it, on the contrary, made it reality. And the fashion system knows it very well.
From the freedom from asphyxiating corsets put in place by Paul Poiret, to the feeling of exclusivity expressed through streetwear, passing through a total rebellion by the eclectic Vivienne Westwood.
But above all, have you ever thought about how fashion is able to make us live a dream and in a moment bring us back to reality?
Or how much it can help us express our most hidden desires?
Imagine that we are in front of a store window, seeing a shiny sequinned dress or a shiny satin tuxedo and immediately the mind flies, to end up in a love dance as in “The Beauty and The Beast” movie. But then, suddenly our image is reflected on that same window.
And here we appear again, with a tired face, wearing a business suit.
Under Federico Floridi‘s direction and thanks to the collaboration of SPAZIO store, with this editorial video we wanted to represent what is perhaps the deepest meaning of fashion. And it is the same taking shape in our minds making us free to travel in the dimension of the dream and our desires.
Are you ready to dream?
