The cold Copenhagen Fashion Week, this year has launched very stellar stylists, both established and emerging, who have shown at the best, the reason why today, the Danish design scenario has such a global appeal.
For the BRANDS ON FIRE column, this time we moved to Copenhagen which, between the dystopian and sporty style of Heliot Emil in contrast with the ultra-girly clothes by Cecilie Bahnsen, up to the Wood Wood uniform, showed to be a city that can really satisfy all tastes.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s discover with us these 5 new brands … we are sure that you will fall in love too!
Résumé
Founded by two sisters, Résumé was launched for the first time only in 2017, but do not be fooled by the fact that the brand is so new, because this duo really knows how to do it. The brand currently produces six RTW collections per year and its FW19 collection fuses floating and printed silks, known to be used on elements such as structured vinyl jackets. Among the key pieces: the quilted coat in metallic silver complete with fuzzy pink collar, the camouflage coverall and an elegant dress with wide sleeves in neon yellow-green silk.
Keep your eyes firmly on these two as they compete for the crown of the to-go brand for all the cool girls in Copenhagen, and not only.
Heliot Emil
After the great success during the SS19 season, Heliot Emil did not disappoint even with its FW19 collection. Remaining faithful to the brand identity and design sensibility, the Juul brothers remained faithful to the usual neutral color palette, focusing more on structure and function. A plethora of layered and unstructured pieces, held together by ropes and functional carabiners, has totally stolen the scene from everyone.
We are quite sure that the asymmetrical legs of the trousers will soon become a strong trend.
Cecilie Bahnsen
The LVMH award finalist Cecilie Bahnsen founded her namesake label four years ago and has since grown to become one of the most anticipated shows in Copenhagen. Having worked with the likes of John Galliano and Erdem, it is obvious that theatricality and volume play an important role in his work, but each of these elements is married with an air of minimalism and femininity that is uniquely his.
Trust us, if you really want to shine at the next opportunity, you absolutely must opt for one of this brand.
Wood Wood
For this season Wood Wood chooses to present its FW19 collection during the London Fashion Week Men’s, but has also had a great presence at the Revolver fair. Women’s clothing was the highlight of the entire collection, with pieces outdoors inspired that perfectly blend both style and substance. The practical and square outlines of the outerwear contrasted the feminine printed dresses, with some fresh and sporty tops, decidedly cool.
But above all what is striking are those sweaters handmade in Italy, so soft that you’ll never want to take them off.
ROTATE Birger Christensen
Rotate has undoubtedly been one of the craziest shows this season; a brand created by the renowned Birger Christensen store, whose design and management are led by stylists Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars. The FW19 collection is totally focused around dresses, after both designers have identified these garments as distinctly missing in their closets. Here, therefore, appear on the catwalk, a sequin dress, another one with an infinite number of pink baby flounces, but there is also a black evening dress, a timeless classic.
However, our favorites are metallic mini-dresses with exaggerated sleeves.
