Being an artist and use fashion to convey a message. This is Propagande Noire brand timeless (literally) founded by Riccardo Pucci. Black is the key element studied and defined. The Gothic elegance the end result. The production is take between Milan and Florence and the clothes designed by Pucci surprising for their tailoring and fit. The woman who dresses them do not particularly like hearts and flowers, but it is certainly a romantic. The original, real meaning of Romanticism: the Sturm und Drang.
These are the premises that anticipate the interview with Riccardo Pucci.
Propagandas Noire was born in the year zero. Explain the reasons for this choice, but also how, from here you developed the brand?
I chose the year zero, because in fact there was not a real birth, or at least the brand was founded in 2011 but its real birth can be dated 2015. This is because initially I wanted to this to be an evolving project without a strong background, I would say hybrid, which sooner or later would lead me to have the identity that I was looking for, and than the choice of year zero and maturation finally reached this year.
What is fashion for you and how this is related to Propagande Noire?
I think the fashion industry is much wider audience than it usually means, and that should be a mix of different artistic disciplines they find later in the fashionable way to express themselves. For Propagande Noire I’m trying to impress this concept. Let’s say that in my design fashion exists to 40%.
The art world is a very important value for the brand. Who are the contemporary protagonists that inspire the collections?
My researches have changed over the time. I started by Basquiat the early years, before moving to Escher, but it was all too obvious and revised, so the last time I tried to mix the work done by three different sources: Jan Jelinek, Erik Jhansoon and Pierre Soulages.
What is the added value of the brand?
The fact of not having studied fashion but to enjoy an artistic origin.
What is the positioning of Propagande Noire on the market?
Propagandas Noire has been present in the market since the presentation of the Fall / Winter 15.16 collection exhibiting in Paris. Then I decided, as a result of various personal assessments, to skip the current season and to present the next winter, giving a new face to the project.
Future projects?
Present my new collection Real Surrealism in Paris and participate at the International Talent Support. Besides being able to complete the second line.
