Amiri, the label we all should know, founded in 2014 in Los Angeles, presents the AUTUMN-WINTER 2021 collection: a real tribute to the brand’s hometown.
The menswear collection, shown for the first time with a video released on Wednesday, April 14, aims to enhance the cultural history of Downtown LA. Right here, as was Iranian designer Mike Amiri’s first studio, as well as eponymous brand founder, there are thriving arts and fashion districts of the city where avant-garde and classic are intertwined.
On The Roots’ music we see models parading which, through their synergistic movements followed by the video camera, creating a real performance in which garments are protagonists. These translate as hybrid evolution of formal and informal codes, thus mirroring DTLA’s artistic canvases: from streets to galleries. Sweatshirts, lurex turtlenecks, baggy cardigans, mohair sweaters and velvet flared trousers along with Swarovski crystal details and organza shirts with sequin embroidery come together in a single collection created in contrast. And it’s precisely on contrasts that in this case Mike Amiri wants to play, proposing a video with a well-defined day and night scenario, mixing very different materials and creating a streetwear, classic and luxury style at the same time.
