At the beginning of this year, Alexander Wang expressed the desire to create two collections with two pre-collections per year, outside the classic seasonal calendars typical of the fashion world. In fact, his creations will arrive on the market in strategic periods through the drop during the year, keeping two shows to present the main themes and looks, one in June and one in December.
Keeping its promise, the first of these shows was staged in New York on the striking South Street Seaport’s Pier 17, in honor of the story and the difficulties that Alexander Wang’s parents faced as immigrants.
Called “Collection 1” the show is totally rock inspired with a single denominator: the bandana tied around the head of each model, in onor of Axel Rose, the frontman of the Gun’s N ‘Roses.
The models walked on the catwalk pushed by heavy metal tracks, visor sunglasses, oversized biker jackets in denim and leather, shorts and leather skirts.
Alexander Wang has also presented other items such as tops, corsets and metallic dresses with a provocative look, along with jerseys, track pants, soccer jerseys and sporty-looking sneakers.
Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber were two models parading, among a selection of mostly Asian faces, in this provocative show that ended with the song “This is America” by Childish Gambino, probably a perfect summary of the show.
