A pair of Nike sneakers worn by Kanye West sell for $1.8 Million

And they have achieved the title of the “most expensive sneakers in the world”.

We are talking about the Air Yeezy 1 “Prototype”, designed exclusively by Nike for the American rapper Kanye West on the occasion of a performance at Grammy Awards in 2008.

To buy them at the Sotheby’s Londoner auction house was the investment platform Rares, a virtual market that allows anyone who wants to invest in rare sneakers. Otherwise, at the beginning of April, it was rumored that they would be purchased with an extraordinary amount of one million dollars, but the value has increased following a huge demand.

The coveted “Prototype” sneakers worn by Kanye West seems to have broken all records becoming the new celebrities sneakers market’s cornerstone, and, with so much amazement, they have even supplanted Michael Jordan’s Nike Air Jordan 1, which were sold at Christie’s auction house for 615 thousand dollars in August 2020. Since then, no one had ever exceeded one million dollars, not even the famous Nike “Moon Shoes” designed by Bill Bowerman in 1972.

It sounds crazy? Probably for many it’s crazy, but as all types of niche collecting are, even that of sneakers’ cutting-market has conquered great fame and it still manages to amaze us.
