For the spring 2022 campaign, Balenciaga’s fashion acquires a robotic touch. Hiroto, in fact, works alongside the robotics manufacturer Skeletonics to create unique shots.
In addition to the prêt-à-porter garments of the brand, the Balenciaga models wear metal masks that cover the face and mouth. Those that dominate their bodies are real infrastructures.
Eyes covered, nose, mouth and ears covered with black, gray and red metal masks that appear as necessary elements for living.
In the photographs taken by Andrea Artemisio, Balenciaga probably brought back his own vision of contemporary humanity, inseparable from technology. These shots have made visible, in material form, the condition of dependence that we live in everyday life.
The slogan of the campaign is “Here il Anywhere”, a concept that technological tools allow us to live and implement every day, especially in the post-pandemic period.
The robotics used by Balenciaga will be exhibited in the recently reopened Aoyama flagship store in Tokyo, in selected locations throughout Japan and in the Paris Montaigne store.
The looks of the collection are no less impactful than the metallic component: down jackets, trench coats, bell-shaped jeans with studs are just some of the items that make up the outfits.
You can see them better in the video of the campaign made by Yilmaz Sen.
The collection will soon be available on the official Balenciaga website.
