Virgil Abloh has entered into a partnership with Royal College of Art in London and we will soon see him in the role of associate professor.
The designer, as well as founder of OFF-White and creative director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear, will personally organize talks, masterclasses and workshops for students.
Abloh has already lent his experience to students, specifically in 2018 when he taught at Architectural Association School in London.
Nonetheless, the designer said he felt much closer to RCA’S philanthropy. The Institute has recently created a fund to promote equity and inclusion in fashion industry by providing scholarships to academic students of African American or African descent. “It is with great honor that I join the RCA as a visiting professor to reinforce the importance of education and practical mentoring for future generations,” he said.
We agree: when there is air of novelty and experimentation Virgil Abloh doesn’t hold back. Just a few weeks ago, he embarked on a new collaboration with Nike for OFF-White, with the new “ICONS” manual, which reveals the creative process of the “The Ten” collection. But we could also mention other projects, such as the one with Evian for the restyling of the bottle packaging.
Overall, Abloh is a creative at 360 degrees and even Sir Jony Ive Institute, director of Royal College of Art, knows this well that he defined the Louis Vuitton’s menswear work as “a powerful combination of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit”.
