Since 2003, Nike, with the Doernbecher Freestyle program, has raised millions of dollars for OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, with the aim of protecting the health of children in Oregon.
“We took it as an opportunity to celebrate previous patient-designers and their inspiring stories, culminating those details in a ‘What The’ design.”
“What The” is the name given to the sneaker that contains 14 different designs, derived from the creations of the past years. The model contains colors, material and patterns very different from each other, but that coexist perfectly in an Air Jordan I, colorful, sprint and character. So much beauty, could only be enclosed in an equally imaginative packing: a custom wooden box with laser engraving.
The first Air Jordan I “What The” Doernbecher, was auctioned at the Virtually Freestyle event on February 25. Sixteen pairs remain and will be auctioned on eBay. Of course, all proceeds from the sale of the sneaker will benefit patients and OHSU Doernbecher staff. Who offers more?
