5 July 2020, Paris: the Balmain fashion show
Like the night, surely the magical air you breathe in Paris brings advice. Letting yourself go and watch the waves of the Seine at sunset, with Notre Dame behind you and the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower in front of you.
A breathtaking show that can sweep away your fears, the moment when thoughts become clearer and everything becomes clearer.
Inspirations and positive vibes , what every creative (especially in fashion) needs at this post-lockdown moment.
So Olivier Rousteing , creative director of Balmain , has decided to organize Balmain Sur Seine , a particular fashion show on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the French Maison.
The need to reinvent and get up has pushed the designer to resort to a setting so simple and natural that many could think of it as obvious.
A boat on the Seine with mirror-effect reflective platforms, mobile catwalk and twelve models to wear the most iconic coutures from the Maison’s archives, including creations by Pierre Balmain , creator of the silhouette “ Jolie Madame “.
Easily comparable to the Dior New Look , the silhouette created by the founder of Balmain in the 1950s is what Olivier Rousteing tries to recreate with this show: symbol of hope and restoration .
The aim is to celebrate the end of the lockdown in Paris, to reaffirm the city as fashion capital and once again to make luxury more accessible.
Just as Pierre Balmain did in 1945, Olivier Rousteing revives the fighting spirit of the fashion industry , currently in difficulty.
Private event, few lucky people who sat on the boat: the rest of the people were able to enjoy the show from the banks of the river, an evocative atmosphere and in full compliance with the rules of social distancing .
Balmain Sur Seine was a full-blown show : from the performance by the French singer Yselut to the choreographies of Jean-Charles Jousni along the Seine.
An enchanting show, a hymn to femininity in all its forms, to joy and to the return to life.
Come and discover the appointments of Milan Fashion Week , all digitally from 14 to 17 July!
