Zara has a new logo. For the second time in its 45-years history, the well-known Spanish clothing brand has unexpectedly replaced its brand – the word “ZARA” with graced letters in small capitals – with a new very narrow logo, with almost overlapping letters.
Designed by the Baron & Baron advertising agency led by Fabien Baron, the new Inditex retailer logo (in serif font) links the letters of the brand name, adding accentuated curves to the “Z” and “R”, and was designed to accompany the launch of the new Spring/Summer 2019 campaign.
A choice against the current, that of Zara, considered the tendency of most of the logos in the field of fashion (Burberry, Chnel, YSL…) to comply with the use of characters without graces, a choice which is being discussed. One of the first criticisms made by designers in recent days, is in fact the considerable loss of legibility compared to the previous logo.
And you what do you think of this “restyling”? And don’t you notice a similarity with the logo of a very well-know magazine…?
