Eccentric, voluminous, very high… Almost mammoth. Much more than simple “platforms”. Lovers of minimal-chic style just give up, because the prophecy has finally come true. The Buffalo London sneakers are cool again, in a brand new version, adapted to 2018: more portable, less revolutionary, made of better and innovative materials (the upper is in suede leather, the sole is synthetic).
As loved as hated – especially from ’90s parents -, these shoes with the maxi-soles of the famous German brand can certainly not leave indifferent. They are arrogant, aggressive, not at all elegant. Yet they continue to intrigue, not only the fans of street fashion and suburban culture, but all those who wish to “fly high”, daring and attracting the attention of others … to their feet.
Made famous in the ’90s by the legendary Spice Girls and dusted off last summer by supermodel Gigi Hadid, the Buffalo London are back a rising trend. White, black, beige or gold, the “new” Classics sneakers have a six centimeters tank and are available both in the low or high-leather version, to satisfy all tastes.
The shoe par excellence of the 90s – also appreciated by Madonna and Cher – was the forerunner of the “platform” trend, anticipating JC Play, Windsor Smith, Converse all Star, Vans Old Skool and, last but not least, Fila Disruptor: in short, all the sneakers of 2018 seem to owe a lot to the iconic Buffalos, which are also back on the social pages of the main influencers.
After all – after chokers, crop-tops and fishnet tights – they were the only missing, the umpteenth “Ninties Trend” that make us feel the nostalgia of the good old days. On the other hand, fashion is known to be made up of cycles and recycles. May be the “Buffalo mania” re-exploded, after the announcement of Mel B on the new Spice tour?
Maybe yes. But only for the most enterprising of you.
