Creative Director of Louis Vuitton’s womenswear at the age of 26, Nicolas Ghesquière embodies the true imagery of the designer who works with the soul.
After 15 years from Balenciaga (with a lot of complaints and trials for his statements during an interview) from 2013 Nicolas has been leading the Maison Vuitton with success, collection after collection proposes winning aesthetic canons.
Two years ago, the designer said he wanted to launch his own eponymous brand, “After five years in Louis Vuitton, I now have the right to do it,” says the designer.
A manager of LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE – a company that owns many fashion companies) has refused to comment on a hypothetical financing for the opening of a “Maison Nicolas Ghesquière”, so much so that last May Nicolas renewed the contract with Louis Vuitton for at least another 3 years.
Probably the sales growth of Louis Vuitton in the last quarter (10% or almost 33 million) make the French designer even more attractive for the parent company, not wanting to let him fly off with his company. But they are only hypotheses.
“So now you have the right to create your brand? When? In a year or two?” asks Yann Barthès, Nicolas Guesquière answers “I will come back to tell you when it will happen!”.
