The first Givenchy boutique was founded by Hubert de Givenchy in Paris in 1952. In the same year, the stylist launched the first collection which changed the beauty rules. The collection combined architectural and strong lines with simplicity and lightness of blouses and skirts.
The materials are valued and carefully chosen. The shirt Bettina, a tribute to the model Bettina Graziani, was one of the first biggest successes of Givenchy: a simple white shirt made of cotton.
Thanks to the friend Cristobal Balenciaga, the brand expanded its production during the next years, selling also shoes, scarves, ties, towels, clothing for men and children, umbrellas, jewels, fragrances, cosmetics and even a car: The Ford Lincoln Continental.
The one and only muse was Audrey Hepburn, but also many other famous women worn clothes by the French Maison, such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the Principesse Grace, Carolina di Monaco, Marlene Dietrichm Elizabeth Taylor and also many stars, during their concerts, such as Beyoncé, Adele, Madonna and Rihanna.
Inside, the boutique is very elegant and luxurious. Floors and walls are made of marble: two different types of marble have been used, but both of color gray. Inside the boutiques some selected clothing are exposed, while shoes and accessories are exposed inside illuminated sections cut into the walls.
