From Bangkok to the whole world. It is the road that is building DRYCLEANONLY with a well-defined fashion idea: to take advantage of the best vintage clothing and interpret them, through a tailor-made and hand-made production, in contemporary fashion. And if the keyword is search, the approach is that of the explorer around the world to find the garments and materials that will distinguish his from other brands on the market. The founder, Patipat Chaipukdee, best known as Best, tells about the brand born in 2010.
Best, you founded DRYCLEANONLY seven years ago. Can you describe the concept behind it?
DRYCLEANONLY is a rebel and free-spirit, our DNA is a vintage essential with a modern twist through new materials and handcrafted techniques. We deliver unique designs to our girls, who are independent, confident in her own skin, and never afraid to express herself.
Hand made and vintage garments. How the entire process works?
The development process starts from the mood and tone I want to go for, then come back to see the available resources we have as well as the possibilities to be re produced. We source from everywhere, we travel a lot and hunt for vintages from all over the places. Having a good relationship with great vintage dealers also help us to access the origin of resources in order to be the first hand to get the best pieces. Great materials are hidden everywhere, you just need to look around and pick them out then twist into your own. From the development stage to production, we always have to work with the limitation of supplies. How we handle it with creative solutions is always challenging and it’s the way to keep our work fresh.
How is your relationship with clients? Do you read any differences between people from Bangkok and Europe or USA, for example, in terms of how they approach to your fashion idea?
Pretty much, people from each places have different mentalities and charms. They also have different preference in our products and the way to style our pieces individually. The purchasing behavior also much different. Therefore, to cater the global market demands we need to offer more comprehensive ranges through the diverse market approach.
Is there any environmental care behind DRYCLEANONLY?
It wasn’t our main focus initially, however we are very proud that the concept somehow happens to help saving our environment in a way.
Any future projects?
