The Northamptonshire Productive Society (NPS), now known as Solovair, is a footwear manufacture founded in 1881 in Northamptonshire.
In the 50’s an Austrian doctor named Maertens, who later became known as Dr. Martens, along with his partner, Mr. Funck, invented the legendary outsole with air cushions, associated with shoes and boots.
R. Griggs Group Ltd which owned the rights to the brand, searched allover England to look for the best shoe manufacturers for their brand and the choice fell on the NPS, which has since produced for 35 years Dr Martens by Solovair.
Today, the company no longer holds the rights for the production of legendary shoes (now outsourced production in Vietnam and Thailand), but continues to produce impeccable footwear for gentleman, and in 1995 he patented the name Solovair, giving rise to a version of ‘soft suspension sole’ that clearly pays tribute to the original Dr Martens, but also to their own history, but with shoes that are strictly ‘made in England’ and offer a great level of quality.
