No, so far no one had thought or at least had succeeded. The Tesla trucks will be called Semi and will not be released in 10 years, but in 2 years: production will begin in 2018 but can already be booked with a $ 5000 deposit.
Design already makes us excited. And the first, big limit has been exceeded: the trucks will be equipped with super-batteries and have a full range of 800 km. So … they consider saving fuel costs, in a few years you can even repay some of the cost of buying the truck itself.
The acceleration will be exceptional: from 0 to 60 miles (0-96 km / h) in 5 seconds, in 20 seconds at full load (80,000 pounds, 36 tons).
The truck will be equipped with computer systems typical of Tesla cars and retooled for the truck: this will maintain the automatic distance from the other cars, cruising speeds and the computer will be able to verify that the tir keep the center of the track with large increased safety (by preventing dangerous sleep blows).
The seat is centered, and the driver will have 2 touchpad monitors to control the vehicle.
